Now my car. I have a Nissan Sentra 2015. I bought it in 2017 with 20K miles on it.  To date, it has roughly 31K miles, which tells you how often I drive.  While Freya rides in the car almost every day (just less than a mile down to the lake for her daily adventure), in the last 7 years I’ve only had humans in the back seat about three times. Usually, it’s just me plus one front-seat passenger (my son or my mom, both of whom live with me). 

Here’s the thing though- when I DO have someone in the backseat, it’s usually because all three of us are on our way to a formal event where everyone is dressed up, like my son’s graduation last year. In other words, it’s always for something where you REALLY don’t want fur, drool, and mud getting all over you! The poor kid had to sit on a sheet because I didn’t have a backseat cover at the time!

The biggest pro is, of course, how well it protects your back seat. I mean, that’s why you want it in the first place, right? The material is super thick and really durable. I can see it lasting a very long time, even up against my dog’s raptor-like talons. 

While the directions may seem a bit daunting, it’s actually pretty easy and intuitive to install. I’m more of a “try to figure it out myself first, then read the directions if that fails” type of person, and I only needed the directions to get started. 

Considerations and Drawbacks

Honestly, I haven’t had any issues with the Lusso Gear Back Seat Cover at all so far. It fits my car fine for the most part. If anything, it’s a bit loose in spots, but that’s mainly on me for not installing it perfectly. I don’t have young kids, so my days of car seats and booster seats are long over, so I wasn’t worried about lining everything up just right. 

However, a few people did mention some situation-related drawbacks that I think are important to consider. First, one reviewer mentioned that the mesh backing that keeps the cover from sliding all over stuck to their leather seats. My seats are regular old car seat material (probably polyester or something, right?) so I don’t have that issue. 

Second, and the reason why I put “almost-universal” in the pros, some people with large trucks claimed that it fell short in covering the upper portion of the back seat.
